Episode 23: Signing day, hoops, realignment and much more
After a busy week on the high school front, there was plenty to cover on the show. Sam recaps some of the happenings from National Signing Day and takes a look at the week in hoops.
For high school football die-hard fans, there’s a little bonus in the show: a post-realignment glance at some of the interesting non-district matchups that are known for 2010.
And for the general sports fan: Since we recorded on Super Bowl Sunday (about three hours before kickoff), Producer Matt and Sam talked about the Super Bowl and provided some analysis and even made picks. Hope you can enjoy all of it:

There is also some brief talk on football recruiting (check for updates on recently committed players) as well as the Morton Ranch saga and the officials situation.
And there are shout outs! A couple of you sent in e-mails after listening to the entire last episode so if you did, listen for your shout out.

No show on Sunday, Jan. 17
Thanks to an irritating cold which has also given me a sore throat, there will be no show for the week of Sunday, Jan. 17. We’ll plan to reconvene on Sunday, Jan. 24. Our apologies to the fans out there for missing out this weekend. Thanks for understanding.

Episode 19: The Yates-Lee debate, Morton Ranch, football recruiting and much more
We’re back! After a week off (due to some much-needed time off for yours truly) we’re back and have plenty to talk about. The top point of discussion is Yates’ 170-35 win over Lee, which broke a state record but also sparked debate.
After that, there’s plenty more including an update on the Morton Ranch situation, an update on football recruiting, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and some hoops talk that’s not Yates-related.
Jenny Dial joins in on the convo and TexasPrepInsider.com’s Ahmard Vital also checks in on the football front.

Show update: Next episode to be recorded tonight, released on Monday
During our previous episode of the PrepHouston Podcast we mentioned we would be taking a this Sunday off and not have a regularly scheduled episode, instead waiting to do a year-in-review before Jan. 1.
Well, we couldn’t resist staying away so we will be back, as regularly scheduled, to bring you another episode of the best high school sports podcast Houston has to offer.
We’ll talk lots of hoops – from a recap of the Houston ISD boys basketball tournament, to Yates’ trip to the Iolani Classic, to a preview of the upcoming holiday tournaments. We’ll also talk football recruiting (with special guest Matt Malatesta of Rivals.com and editor-in-chief of VYPE Magazine) and may even touch on the All-Greater Houston football teams, which were released on Christmas day.
Recording will take place in studio tonight and the episode will be released on Monday morning, as usual. So check this site and www.chron.com/hs on the PrepSports blog for Houston high school sports talk!
